The All American Rejects (AAR) along with openers, A Rocket To The Moon (ARTTM), brought their tour to the Nation’s capital this past Sunday to a packed 9:30 Club. Supporting their 5th album, “Kids In The Street“, AAR had the venue packed quite early before ARTTM took the stage at their 7:55 P.M stage time. ARTTM took the stage and embraced the audience with their pop rock driven songs, also having the crowd singing along loudly to a remarkable rendition of the Tom Petty song “Freefalling“. Frontman, Nick Santino, was thanking the crowd after every song, it was refreshing to see a band being so humble on stage. A worthy opener, ARTTM had the crowd moving, and warmed the crowd up for AAR with their fourty minute set.
Right before The All American Rejects took the stage
Around 9:10, the stage lights dimmed and AAR took the stage by storm by opening their set with their 2005 hit “Dirty Little Secret” from the album “Move Along“. The crowd interaction with the band was extremely phenomenal, Tyson Ritter had an excellent stage presence throughout the set, as did the rest of the band. Between sing-alongs, the band’s on stage antics, to the setlist, the show is great for any AAR fan of any era. With classic AAR songs sprinkled into the set such as “Paper Heart“, “Swing Swing“, “Move Along” to newer hits such as “Gives You Hell“, “Beekeeper’s Daughter“, and “I For You“, AAR proved that their music has withstood the test of time. Tyson Ritter even made a comment about how he couldn’t believe it had been ten years since they wrote “Swing Swing” and reminisced on the first time they walked into the 9:30 Club. Hopefully it’s not too long before they are back again.
