★★★✰☆ (3.5 Rating)
Picture Show is the sophomore album from Utah alternative band, Neon Trees. Many will remember the band from the infectious single “Animal” that flooded many radio stations and grocery stores for the past two years. Picture Show is a decent listen for anyone wanting to explore something different, as the different sounds melding together create a unique experience for whomever listens to it. With the opening track “Moving In The Dark“, it has the usual catchy lyrics and beat that Neon Trees incorporates into their songs. The album truly shines in songs such as “Weekend“, “Hooray For Hollywood” and the album closer “I Am The D.J.” The aforementioned songs showcase the band’s song-writing as well as their ability to provide an upbeat catchy tune with plenty of replay value. In conclusion, “Picture Show” is a worthy sophomore follow-up and musical journey that should at least be undertaken once, for Neon Trees provide a unique left-field performance in “Picture Show“.
