It’s that time of the year again where colleges and high schools let out for summer vacation, and the hype for summer plans began to form. One of the biggest attractions during the summer time is none other than the annual Vans Warped Tour, which is set to make it’s way to the DC/MD/VA area on July 24th. The question is out of all the bands playing, is which ones to check out? Well, here at RichardThinks.Org, I’ve set up a few suggestions on bands to check out amidst all of the bands playing this years Warped Tour.
1. We Are The In Crowd
We Are The In Crowd have been riding the success of their 2011 full length debut album, Best Intentions, and are continuing by playing their second year of this year’s Warped Tour. Having played the 2010 Warped Tour in the early stage of their budding career, adding in successful tours with acts such as All Time Low, Every Avenue & Hey Monday to name a few, We Are The In Crowd continue their musical crusade on today’s scene. Catch them now while they are on the smaller Tilly’s stage, because I predict from their amazing live show they will graduate to the main stage in time.
2. Taking Back Sunday
Nowadays, reunions seem to dissipate as quickly as they emerge. Thankfully, this was not the case when back in 2010, Taking Back Sunday revealed the classic “Tell All Your Friends” lineup was to reunite for a brand new album. With the self-titled fifth album having been released just last year, following successful sold-out tours throughout the world in the past year, it only makes sense for Taking Back Sunday to return for the 2012 Vans Warped Tour. When you think about it, it all comes full circle since Taking Back Sunday played Warped Tour in 2004 where they reached their breakout and now coming back to their roots for the whole tour.
3. Dead Sara
Having released one of the most refreshing albums this year, Dead Sara are hard at work making a name for themselves by touring with acts such as The Used, Chevelle & Bush to name a few. Now they are stepping into new territory by playing the Kevin Says stage on this years Vans Warped Tour. With Emily Armstrong’s passionate vocals complimented by Siouxsie Medley’s crushing guitar riffs along with the fantastic rhythm section that is Chris Null and Sean Friday, Dead Sara is force to be reckoned with and will be dominating Warped Tour and beyond. They bring a fresh meaning to the phenomenon known as The Rock Show.
4. Of Mice & Men
Breaking out to the music scene in 2009, Of Mice & Men have rapidly grown in popularity in a short three years. Having played on the Advent Clothing Stage on last year’s edition of Warped Tour, they quickly graduated to the main stage for this year’s tour. Despite having clean vocalist & bassist Shayley Bourget leave the band, Of Mice & Men are continuing forward strong with releasing their new single “The Depths” along with a re-issue of their 2010 album “The Flood” coming next month. Catch them at this year’s Warped Tour as they bring their musical onslaught to the masses this summer.
5. Title Fight
Having released their full length debut album just last year, Title Fight has been on the road making a name for themselves such as being features on tours with Rise Against and the 2011 Alternative Press tour. Combining their hardcore sound with an energetic performance, Title Fight will be bringing the heat to the Monster Energy stage all summer on the Vans Warped Tour. Their debut album ” Shed” is available now.
