It’s about that time of the year where we look back and reflect on everything that was released this year. What better way to look back than making a “End Of Year Best Of” list? We’re starting off with Music Videos, and to me a good music video tells a great story through excellent cinematography. So without further ado, let’s get right to it.
#5 – Backlash – 10 Years – Palehorse Records/ILG/Warner Music Group
10 Years have always made excellent music videos (Beautiful, Shoot It Out & Fix Me) and the music video for “Backlash” is no exception. From the beginning it might look like just a performance video, but as it goes the haunting figures consume the band and by the end are completely consumed by the darkness. Lyrically fitting, and a great a music video, also reported to be financially the easiest music video to produce to date. A great example of quality over quantity and the results show.
#4 – Devil’s Night – Motionless In White – Fearless Records
From the first time I listened to “Devil’s Night“, it sounded like an anthem, a call to those with anyone wanting to rise up and face anyone standing in their way . The music video captures that feeling perfectly with the intense storyline with dangerous notions. Then again, Motionless In White have always set the bar in terms of creating memorable music videos!
#3 – The Depths – Of Mice & Men – Rise Records
The music video premiere for “The Depths” is a great example why one should always wait until it’s a few days until the end of the year to make these kind of lists, as it premiered only just last week! The music video really captures the feeling of intensity, anger and aggression of the song as well as the person covered in (dirt/sand?) also helps visualize the lyrical content as well.
#2 – For Baltimore – All Time Low – Hopeless Records
“For Baltimore” is one of those music videos you have to watch several times because it’s one of those videos you see something new every time you watch it. Having visited Baltimore many times in my life, it was very neat seeing the Harbor, the aquarium, and most importantly “Rams Head Live” as “Bulls Head Live” to name a few. Props to All Time Low for paying homage to Baltimore, as well as the director of the video for being strict to detail.
#1 – King For A Day (Featuring Kellin Quinn) – Pierce The Veil – Fearless Records
At #1, the crown (no pun intended) for the number one music video of the year goes to “King For A Day” by Pierce The Veil featuring Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens. Where do I begin with this music video? A fantastic storyline that stars Vic Fuentes & Kellin Quinn plotting to overthrow a corrupt bank manager with the other members of Pierce The Veil. The falling action is what makes the video after the band shoots the manager with their water gun, causing the man to relieve himself and the band celebrating later while the manager is shown on the news being arrested for embezzlement.

Dude come on. Where’s Kingdom of Tyrants by Catlle Decapitation? Fuckin masterpiece
