In what could be possibly be one of the biggest “didn’t see that coming” of 2013, Woe, Is Me have announced the departure of founding member, Austin Thornton. Fresh off tours in Australia and the U.S., this comes as a shock as the band seemed at their peak. What could be next for the band as they JUST finished shooting a video for “A Story To Tell“? Could Austin be rejoining Of Machines who just announced a reunion? A statement from the band can be seen below via Alternative Press. RichardThinks.Org will be closely following the story as more details surface.

“After much deliberation, conversation, we have come to an agreement,  and we are announcing that we are parting ways with our drummer,  Austin Thornton.

Due to differences in musical creativity and control, the forward progression of the band with our current lineup is not possible. The differences just ended up creating more frustration and negativity and we feel as though this change is necessary to move forward and is a positive thing for everyone involved.

This will not be slowing us down. We won’t be dropping any of our shows or tour dates, and we’ll be releasing a new single in June, just in time for Warped Tour in the summer!

This is a big step for all of us, but we are all looking forward to the future and taking the necessary steps to find the best fit person to join our family on drums.

We wish Austin nothing but the best in his future endeavors.

We love you all. And thank you for your continued support through all of this. Our fans mean the absolute world for us and we do this all for you.

-Kevin, Andrew, Hance, Brian, and Doriano.”
