The Isle of Wight Festival have announced that the Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform a UK/Ireland exclusive performance this summer as their Saturday headline act for 2014. The funk rock legends join previously announced Friday headliners Biffy Clyro, with the Sunday headline slot set to be filled in an announcement this Monday, February 3rd.
The band released a statement highlighting their excitement at playing a festival with such heritage: “to headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors.”
Red Hot Chili Peppers are also set to play the prestigious half-time performance at Super Bowl XLVIII alongside Bruno Mars, at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on February 2nd.
