Killswitch Engage invaded Maryland with force, once again, this time headlining Rams Head Live in Baltimore. Killswitch brought Trivium in direct support, as well as Battlecross, and Nothing More. We sent Terry from Scenes of Madness Photography to cover the show!
Nothing More kicked the show off, taking the stage for their first show since joining the tour. I have to admit, I hadn’t previously heard of these guys before, but between the triple bass solo, and the drums mounted on either side of the stage, in addition to the main drum kit, these guys put on a unique set and was definitely a great start to the night!

Battlecross, out of Canton, MI followed Nothing More, and definitely put on a great set. These guys were all over the stage, and live up to the genre of “thrash-metal”.

Trivium was up next, and as usual delivered a great set. This was a great opportunity to see one of the newest members of the band, drummer Matt Madiro in action, following the departure of Nick Augusto. Trivium knows how to mix a set up, and played songs from their most recent release “Vengeance Falls”, and songs dating back to their sophomore album “Ascendancy”. One of the highlights of the set, was when a young man in a wheelchair, who frequents metal shows in the DC/Maryland area, was crowd surfed to the front, and greeted by vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy and personally handed his guitar pick. If the crowd wasn’t warmed up enough by Nothing More & Battlecross, Trivium laid it down and got everyone ready for the night’s headliner.

Finishing the night off, Killswitch Engage took the stage, and played one of the longer sets I’ve ever witnessed in person, firing through 19 songs in a little under 80 minutes. They also played a good mix of songs, with about 1/3 of the set being songs from Killswitch’s latest release “Disarm The Descent”, and left a near-sold out crowd leaving happy.
