ALBUM REVIEW – My Arcadia – Stay EP – 2012

Stay (EP)
My Arcadia
Independent Release
Release Date: May 22nd 2012
★★★★✰ (4.5/5 Rating)

“Stay” is the second EP from the Bronx Quintet, My Arcadia. Following their first magnificent EP “City By The Sea“, “Stay” continues their evolution as a band. The EP features five new tracks and each track is remarkable in their own way. The opening track “Human” starts off with remarkable guitar playing by Mike Costello & Alex Cahill which instantly transports the listener to an otherworldly sense of musical nirvana where lead vocalist Jacqui Sandell speaks to you through her fantastic singing. The “musical nirvana” aforementioned continues on in “Sail On” with catchy chorus hooks perfectly segueing into the title track of the EP, with the guitars and drum instrumentation perfectly melding together practically hypnotizing in a sense. The fourth track “Mixed In Gold” is an excellent penultimate track to the final track “See Me Through The Fire“.

Set Me Through The Fire” finishes the EP with a bang, a track that could represent the entire EP from the intricate beginning to the  phenomenal vocal delivery in the final minute of the track. The “Stay” EP is a worthy contender in the sea of countless music that pops up in today’s musical scene. Not to mention, the “Stay” EP is just a harbinger to the full-length that is rumored to come out later this year. If you followed My Arcadia from their first release “City By The Sea” you will be pleased and satisfied with this sophomore release. The same applies to those who had never heard of My Arcadia before this review was published, do yourself a favor and give this EP a spin.
