This past Monday, Linkin Park released the first single, “Burn It Down“, from their forthcoming fifth studio album entitled “Living Things“. The new track features some of the familiar electronic sounds from the previous 2010 album “A Thousand Suns” with subtle guitar and bass mixed in. Lead vocalist Chester Bennington sounds excellent in the song, but the lyrics are a bit too simple this time around. “We’re building it up, to bring it back down, we can’t wait to burn it back down” seem a little simple comparing the lyrics from past albums. What makes the song, which will make some old school fans happy, is multi instrumentalist Mike Shinoda coming in rapping in perfect sync with Bennington’s singing. In conclusion, “Burn It Down” is a fair hors d’oeuvre to the full course that will be “Living Things” which will be released on the 26th of June.
